Abel Joseph Mendonsa

- Abel Joseph Mendonsa, 78, of 100 Jasmine St. Lake Placid, Florida formerly of West Narragansett Avenue, Newport, died Monday, July 29, 2002 in Orlando, FL. Born in Newport, RI on July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Arsenio and Maria Sa Mendonsa. Mr. Mendonsa was an aircraft electronics technician for over 20 years for the US Naval Air Station at Quonset, RI. He later worked at Eastern Airlines in Florida until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Mendonsa enjoyed repairing clocks and building model boats. He is survived by his brother George Mendonsa of Middletown, RI, his sister Hilda Todd of Tiverton, RI, and a niece and nephew.He was the brother of the late Manuel Mendonsa and Arsen Mendonsa. His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at 9:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
