Portsmouth, RI ? Adelia St. Pierre Farias-Payton, 90, of 3137 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late John D. ?Jake? Farias and the late John W. ?Bill? Payton. Born in Fall River, MA on June 6, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Arsenne and Odianna Dionne St. Pierre.Mrs. Payton was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations throughout the years, her favorites being the Portsmouth Senior Center, where she was most instrumental in getting it started, the Portsmouth Grange, Catholic Womens Club, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and AARP. Mrs. Payton was known for her love of baking, sewing, crocheting and knitting which she did from the heart for most everyone she knew. She is survived by her sons Richmond Farias and Rodney Farias both of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Janice Kocher of Holland, MA, her brothers Normand St. Pierre of Fall River, MA, and Henry St. Pierre of Cerritos, CA, her sister Theresa Dion of Fall River, MA, five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 25, at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 24, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Connors Funeral Home.
