Adriana Alvarez

Adriana Alvarez, 94, of Portsmouth, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Warren Skilled Nursing Center in Warren, RI. Adriana was born October 26, 1921 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of the late Gerardo and Felina (Lopez) Alvarez. Adriana moved to Portsmouth from the Bronx, NY in 1984 and became a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. Known to all as "Nani", she loved dancing to Big Band, and singing just about any anywhere, any time. She also enjoyed gardening and watching shows on Univision.She is survived by her nieces Eneida DeJesus and her husband Raymond of Portsmouth, Melissa Ceprano and her husband Peter, Denise Miller and her husband Daniel, and her nephew Robert DeJesus and his wife Rebecca, and several more nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sisters Dilia Alvarez, Carmen Perez, and Freida Friedman. She was preceded in death by siblings, Osvaldo Alvarez, Jaime Alvarez, Iraida Panela, Providencia Trejo, Aurelia Leon, Petra Alvarez, Isabel Cabrera, and Caridad Badino.Calling hours will be held Friday, November 13, from 4:00-7:00pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 9:00am from Connors Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
