Newport, RI - Agnes Rosa Coleman, 85, of 4 Armstrong Place, Newport, RI, formerly of 152 Evarts Street, Newport, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Frank E. Moe Coleman.Born in Newport, RI, on September 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Angelica Dutra Rosa.Aggie, as her many friends and family called her, was an independent woman who was involved in many activities. Her mornings were spent swimming at the Newport Athletic Club and many afternoons playing bingo at the Senior Center, always taking time to socalize with her beloved friends. She is survived by a son Frank E. Coleman Jr. and his wife Barbara of Newport, RI, a daughter Ellen Coleman Retlev and her husband Thomas Harris of Newport, RI, a grandson Mark Coleman of San Franciso, CA, and a sister Emily Renfrew of St. Paul, MN, and extended members of the Rosa and Coleman families. She was also the sister of the late, George Rosa, Chris Rosa, Anna Marchetti, Angelina Rosa, and Mary Johnson.A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 4:05 pm in the Salve Regina University Chapel, 100 Ochre Pointe Avenue, Newport.Burial will be private.Calling hours are omitted.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, 6948 Post Road, Suite 500, North Kingstown, RI, 02852.
