Agnes Elizabeth Silvestri

Agnes Elizabeth (Brigham) Silvestri, 94, of Newport died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at John Clarke Health Care Center of Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late John Silvestri.Born on December 15, 1920 in Middletown, RI, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bernice (Sherman) Brigham. Mrs. Silvestri worked in the clerical department with the Federal Civil Service for 33 years retiring in 1983. After retirement she enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially trips to Portugal, Hawaii and wintering in Florida. She was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Newport where she enjoyed making crafts for the craft fair.She is survived by her brother-in-law Anthony Silvestri and his wife Priscilla of Middletown, RI; her sister-in-law Louise Silvestri Miller of Newport, RI; and many loving nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Raymond H. Brigham and Helen W. Tinker.Calling hours will be held on Monday April 27, 2015, from 4-7 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2015, at 9, from Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10, in St. Josephs Church, Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church, Soup Kitchen, 5 Mann Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
