Coventry, RI - Agnes G. Mello Marques, 86, of Sharon Drive Coventry, formerly of 43 Vanicek Avenue, Middletown, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel M. Marques.Born in Portsmouth, RI on November 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Manuel T. and Emelia Garcia Mello.Mrs. Marques, along with her husband owned and operated ?The LaFiesta Restaurant? in Middletown and the former Elbow Inn, Newport. Prior to her retirement, Agnes worked for Egans Laundry and Transcom Electronics. Agnes was a proud, strong, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children Mary Matilda Mendiola of Middletown, RI, Vasco Marques of New Britain, CT, Ann Pelletier of Portsmouth, RI, A. Michael Marques of Coventry, RI, Manuel M. Marques Jr. of Middletown, RI, Joseph Marques of Erie, PA, Linda Chaves of Middletown, RI, her sisters Emily Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI, and Mary M. Clark of Newport, RI, Twenty-one grandchildren and Twenty-one great grandchildren.Agnes was the grandmother of the late Charles Chaves, Heather Marques, Joseph Marques and sister of the late Anthony Mello, Manuel T. Mello, Jr., Dorothy Rego and Philomena Dorato. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 7:30am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 5 -8 pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
