MIDDLETOWN, RI - Agnes Silveira Pimentel, 89, of 821 Mitchells Lane, Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2009.She was the wife of the late Antonio Pimentel to whom she was married to for 46 years. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on September 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Antonio D. and Maria Vierra Silveira.Mrs. Pimentel was an accomplished seamstress and lent her skills during the Second World War to the tailor shop on the Newport Naval Base., she also worked as a secretary at the Navy Exchange. In later years she worked for W.T. Grants in the drapery department and later for J.C. Pennys. One of the things Agnes loved to do was spend time with her husband. They spent many happy years at each others side. As a life time parishioner of Jesus Savior Church; she was a member of the Rosary Sodality, and she volunteered at many church functions including the Holy Ghost Feast, church bazaars and wherever else she was needed. Agnes was a past president of the Middletown Senior Citizen Club and also served as one of the original board members for the organization. She enjoyed being involved in their many activities always preferring a behind-the-scenes role. In later years Agnes enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; fishing, cooking, gardening and doing arts and crafts. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary P. Botelho of Portsmouth, RI, her sons Antonio Pimentel, Jr. of Middletown, RI and Michael J. Pimentel of Portsmouth, RI, six grandchildren; Michael T. Botelho of Fall River, MA, Kathryn M. Botelho of Newport, RI, Christopher A. Pimentel and Amanda N. Pimentel of Middletown, RI, Tyler Lynn Pimentel and Cole W. Pimentel of Portsmouth, RI, her sisters Madeline S. Perry, Alice H. Haas and Helen A. Perry all of Middletown, RI.She was the sister of the late Mary D. Soares, Manuel D. Silveira, Arthur D. Silveira, Rose C. Cardoza, Margaret C. Corey, Ida Borges, Anna S. DeCosta, Anthony D. Silveira and Laura Silveira. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 8:00 am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am, in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
