Newport, RI - Agnes Correia Riddick, 94, of 6 Freeborn Street and formerly of 29 Willow Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Clare Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Walter Lewis Riddick. Born in New Bedford, MA on November 22, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Constance Lopes Correia.Mrs. Riddick had worked for years for the textile manufacturer in New Bedford later came to Newport and worked ten years for the School Lunch Program. She entered the Order of Eastern Star in 1972 served two years as Worthy Matron of Queen Esther Chapter #11 currently Queen Esther Chapter #2 later in 1986 to 1987 she served as Grand Worthy Matron of Prince Hall Grand Chapter O.E.S.l State of R.I. Providence Plantation in 1988 she was appointed to the office of G.C.C.F.C. State of Rhode Island Jurisdiction she also was a member of William A. Heathman Assembly #66 Order of the Golden Circle of Providence R.I. She was a Communicant of St. Johns Church in Newport. She is survived by two daughters Deborah Riddick of Newport, RI and Jacqueline Smith, of Providence, RI, her son John Riddick and his wife Cynthia of Daytona Beach, FL, and six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 10:00am, in St. John the Evangelist, 61 Poplar Street, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009, from 5-9, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
