Albert Antone

Albert Antone, 85, of Middletown, RI passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of 48 years to Carol Borella.Born on August 9, 1930 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Martin and Josephine (Monteiro) Antone. Mr. Antone served in the Army and then as a medic in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1958, Mr. Antone began a 25 year career in the United States Postal Service. During these years, he was promoted to various managerial positions culminating in being appointed Postmaster of Newport, RI in 1983. He served in this position until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed being an active member of the Cape Verdean Club of Newport and served as its treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Stone Mill Lodge #3 of Newport Rhode Island. For many years he was the manager of Hurleys in Newport and enjoyed meeting many people as part of the entertainment industry of Newport. During his life, Mr. Antone took great pride and joy in his family and friends and was always there to offer advice, support and most importantly, unconditional love.
