NEWPORT, RI - Albert Bonnetat Biastre, 92, of 3 Harrison Lane, Newport, RI, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Sophie Cecelia Shaknites Biastre.Born in Newport, RI, on August 4, 1913, he was the son of the late Jacques and Virginie Bonnetat Biastre.Mr. Biastre had worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union of Providence, the Newport Shipyard of Newport, and the Hereshoff Shipyard of Bristol, for over 40 years, retiring in 1976. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Newport Lodge of Elks. Mr. Biastre had enjoyed woodworking in his retirement years.He is survived by two sons Albert B. Biastre Jr. of Warwick, RI, and Frederick C. Biastre of Newport, RI, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late August Biastre, Louis Biastre, Henry Biastre, and Robert Biastre.His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at 8:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006, from 4-7PM in the Memorial Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Disease Crisis Intervention Center, 23 Broad Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860.
