Albert H. Fisher

June 15, 1937 — February 10, 2013

Albert Henry Fisher, 75, was peacefully born-again in God and reunited with family and friends on Sunday, February 10, 2013 while at Heatherwood Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in New York, he was the son of the late Lt. Albert A. Fisher USN, (Ret) and Josephine Fisher of Middletown.Albert graduated from De La Salle Academy in Newport, Class of 1956 and later attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was a Navy veteran and a longtime resident of Aquidneck Island where he had worked for Raytheon, the Pier Restaurant, SYSCON, was a General Contractor, and most recently, was a driver for Salve Regina University. He had been a youth baseball coach and for years played on the Sunset Baseball League. Albert was an active member of St. Lucy's Church in Middletown and member of a Small Christian Community and was a sponsor in the RCIA program. He was an artist, attended RISD, and had a deep appreciation of music. He had been the husband of the late Dolores (Dorato) Fisher and is survived by their five children and their families: Christopher and Teresa Fisher of Adel, Georgia and his children, Diana and Joshua; Daniel and Gail Fisher of Pawtucket and their sons, Gregory and Thomas; David Fisher of Newport; Christianne Fisher of Portsmouth and her son, Gabriel; and Stacey Fisher and Henry White of Portsmouth and their children, Sofia, Madelyn, Hayden, and Vivian. He had two great-grandchildren, Chaise and Emma. He had been the brother of the late James Fisher and is survived by his sister Margaret Riggieri of Worcester, Helen Glynn and her husband Fred of Portsmouth, Raymond Fisher and his wife Pamela of Newport, and Kathleen Foss and her husband Wood of Newport, and his sister in law Janice Fisher of Swansea, MA. He was especially thankful for the care and devotion of his beloved sister Helen, who for many years provided great support, friendship, advocacy, and comfort as his health declined. He enjoyed his many nieces and nephews and their children. He had many friends and will be especially missed by his "good bud" Ed Meyer. All relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather in celebration of Albert's life at St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown on Saturday, February 16 beginning at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. A reception will follow in the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lucy's Church Capital Campaign, 909 West Main Rd, Middletown, or to Heatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 398 Bellevue Ave, Newport in appreciation for the care they have shown and for the benefit of its residents.
