Albert John Reis Sr

Albert John Reis, SR. Portsmouth, RI - Albert John Reis, Sr., 81, of 52 Stagecoach Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at John Clarke Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. He was the former husband of Alice LaFlamme Reis. Born in Fall River, MA on Mar. 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Antoine and Clementine Botelho Reis.Mr. Reis worked at NUSC as a machinist for 18 years, retiring in 1987. Albert was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps. He also worked at the Newport Airport as an aircraft mechanic and a ground instructor. Albert was a life time member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club, the NRA, and worked as a gunsmith most of his life. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, deer hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son Albert John Reis, Jr. of Seekonk, MA, three daughters Barbara Showman of San Diego, CA, Antonia Carlyon of Providence, RI, and Lori Reis of Cork, Ireland, two sisters Alice Burman of Newport, RI, and Mary Jungbauer of St. Paul, MN, and three grandchildren Mary Reis, Laura Reis, and Eric Showman, as well as one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brother Tony Reis and sister Cathy Seward.A graveside funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 30, at 11:00 am in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 29 from 6-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
