Middletown, RI ? Alberta Cook Fickett Skinner, 91, of Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of Mumford Manor, Newport, RI, and Darien, CT, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2006. She was the wife of the late Jack Skinner and Chester Fickett. Born in Stamford, CT, on June 17, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth James Cook, the youngest of eleven children.While living in Darien as a homemaker she had many friends through her participation at the Senior Center and Federation of the Blind. She was a dedicated care giver in her early years with over 100, 000 hours of services for home health aid services. Her friends at Forest Farm Health Care Center, will remember her from the weekday evening bingo and yachtzee tournaments. She is survived by her daughter Alberta O?Meara of Newport, RI, her grandchildren Wendy Schmidle of East Greenwich, RI, Laurie O?Meara of South Yarmouth, MA, Tom O?Meara of Lancaster, CA, John O?Meara of Caribou, ME, Kimberly Guild of Westerly, RI, and Corey Fickett of Westerly, RI, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard Fickett and the sister of the late John Cook, Burdell Cook, Norman Cook, Roy Cook, Martin Cook, Samuel Cook, Ethel Huber, Edith Wadhams, Elizabeth Cook and Bernsetta June. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, from 4-7p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at 2:00p.m. in Spring Grove Cemetery, Post Road, Darien.
