Alexander Barker Simmons Middletown, - Alexander Barker Simmons, 85, of 1998 West Main Road Middletown, died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Forest Farm Health Care Center Middletown, RI. He was the husband of Mary E. Hibbard Simmons. Born in Newport, RI on September 1, 1918, he was the son of the late John L. Jr. and Ruth Barker Simmons. Mr. Simmons had operated Simmons Farm in Middletown, RI for twenty years. Mr. Simmons had been a Town Councilman for the town of Middletown during the 1940s and also Tax Assessor.Mr. Simmons was a World War II Army Veteran. Besides his wife of sixty-three years he leaves three daughters Eunice Ann Gizzi of Portsmouth, RI, Mary Elizabeth Owens of Wickford, R.I., Cynthia Louise Simmons of Portsmouth, R.I., two sons Alexander Barker Simmons Jr. of Middletown, R.I. Jack E. Simmons of Tiverton, R.I., 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Simmons was the brother of the late James Alex Simmons.A Memorial Serice will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at 5:00 pm in St. Marys Churchyard, East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
