Alexander Rexer Tamke

Cranston, RI - Alexander Rexer Tamke, 78, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Cranston, Rhode Island. Mr. Tamke was born on February 17, 1935 in New Orleans to the late Frederick W. Tamke and Alexandra (Rexer) Tamke. He was predeceased by his brother Frederick W. Tamke, Jr. He is survived by two sons, Alexander Jr. (Sandy) and Montford (Monty). Mr. Tamke attended the Newman School in New Orleans, Amherst College in Massachusetts, Tulane Law School in New Orleans, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a writer, a traveler, and a devotee of arts, culture, sports and military history. He was based in New Orleans until he settled in Newport, Rhode Island in his later years.
