Alfred Raymond Silvia Jr., 44, of 33 Bayview Ave, Tiverton, RI, formerly of Portsmouth, died suddenly Sunday, May 27, 2007 at his home. Born in Newport, RI on July 23, 1962, he was the son of Norma Almeida Silvia of Portsmouth and the late Alfred Raymond Silvia Sr.Fred, as he was known by his family and friends, grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1980. He then completed his auto mechanics program and after a few odd jobs he began a career at Newport Ford. More recently, Al, as his coworkers called him, was working at Tasca Ford in Cranston. Al loved everything motorized and rode dirt bikes, ATVs, and motorcycles. He was also a great fan of car racing. He is survived by his son Nicholas Silvia and daughter Abilyn Silvia of both of Tiverton, RI, his mother Norma Silvia of Portsmouth, RI , two brothers Christopher Silvia of Riverside, RI, and James Silvia of Tiverton, RI, a sister Mary MacGibbon of Portsmouth, RI, and his former wife Lauri Silvia. He was preceded in death by his father Alfred R. Silvia Sr, his grandfather Edward Almeida and grandmother Natalie Rodrigues. His graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, at 10:00 am in Portsmouth Cemetery, Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 30 from 5-8pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
