Portsmouth, - Alfred Raymond Silvia, Sr., 68, of 47 McCorrie Lane Portsmouth, died Monday, December 30, 2002 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI.He was the husband of Norma Almeida Silvia. Born in Portsmouth, RI on February 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Christopher and Mary C. Fragoza Silvia.Mr. Silvia was a dairy farmer for 30 years, after that he went to work for Raytheon in Portsmouth as a cabinet assembler. Mr. Silvia was a member of St. Barnabas Church, the North American Family Campers Association and the Quahog Chapter #48. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons Alfred Silvia Jr. of Tiverton, RI, Christopher Silvia of East Providence, RI, and James Silvia of Tiverton, RI, his daughter Mary MacGibbon of Portsmouth, RI, two brothers Antone Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, and Francisco Silvia of Tiverton, RI, his sister Helen Lee of Enfield, CT, and nine grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Christopher Silvia, John Silvia, George Silvia and Laura LeDuc. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2002, at 10:00AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
