Alfred V. Corey, 101, of 301 Bulgarmarsh Road, Tiverton, RI, formerly of Middletown, RI passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Warren Center in Warren, RIHe was the husband of Helena Arruda Corey and the former husband of Emilia P. Corey.Born in Fayal, Azores, Portugal on July 15, 1908, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria do Varges Correia.Mr. Corey worked for the State of RI Highway Department and Hammersmith Farm in Newport before retiring. He also had a small dairy farm. He lived in Middletown, RI most of his life before moving to Tiverton 27 years ago.In addition to his wife of 27 years, he is survived by his daughters, Amelia Medeiros and her husband, William, and Eleanor Reismann, all of Middletown, RI, and Carolyn Zuccone and her husband, Roger, of Leesburg, FL; four granddaughters, Debora Gugliotti of Hampton, FL, Denise Tanner and her husband, Robert, of Orange Park, FL, Tammi McCarraher and her husband, John, of Dartmouth, MA and Danielle Lister of Middletown, RI; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Lister, and Lauren and Brandon McCarraher; brothers-in-law, George Arruda and his wife, Sarah, of Dartmouth, MA, Humberto Arruda and his wife, Delores, of Canada; sister-in-law, Luisa Benjamin of New Bedford, MA; and many nieces and nephews in Canada and in the United States.He was the father-in-law of the late Robert L. Reismann and the brother of the late Joseph and Manuel Corey, Antone Correia, Joaquin Corey, Maria da Conceicao da Silva, Evangelina da Silva, and Maria de Lurdes Correia dos Santos.His funeral will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 8 am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
