Alice B. Young

Alice B. Young, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.Born in Newport, RI on February 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Melvin E. and Sarah L. Weston Young.Alice was a lifelong resident of Newport and graduated from Rogers High School in 1955. She held various housekeeping and babysitting jobs in Newport. While living at the Grand Islander, she enjoyed sewing and playing bingo. She also loved making daily phone calls to her family members.She is survived by children Beverlee C. Boyd, Edward A Young, and Deborah A Ramirez all of Newport, RI, Barry C. Young of Newport News, VA, and Ramona L Young of Pawtucket, RI, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, her brothers Warren Buzzy Young and Eugene H Young, both of Newport, RI, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Wigington and Gwendolyn Peer and her brother Melvin Pete Young. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 10:00 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will take place in Island Cemetery, Newport.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 9:00-10:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home.
