Alice Dooley-Ferreira

Portsmouth, - Alice Dooley-Ferreira, 69, of 3225 East Main Road Portsmouth, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at home with her family by her side.She was the former wife of the late Edward J. Ferreira Sr. Born in Derry, Ireland on September 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Moore Dooley.Mrs. Dooley-Ferreira was educated in Ireland before coming to the United States in 1953 and settling in Portsmouth in 1954. She worked at the clothing mills in Fall River, then at the Canteen Corporation at Raytheon in Portsmouth from 1973 to 1980. Mrs. Dooley-Ferreira then went on to work in numerous fine restaurants in Newport County as a waitress, then at Clements Market in the Deli Department and finally as private duty home health aide. She was a member of the Middletown Senior Citizens Center where she was active in several musical shows and a communicant of St. Anthonys Church in Portsmouth. Mrs. Dooley-Ferreira enjoyed singing, dancing, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons Terence E. Ferreira of Tiverton, RI, and Edward J. Ferreira of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Moira Gagnon of Swansea, MA, two brothers Richard Dooley and Teddy Dooley both of Derry, Northern Ireland, three sisters Myra Jones of Greenfield Center, NY, and Angelia Kelly and Patsy Gardiner both of Derry, Northern Ireland, three grandsons and the companion of Sidney Raposa of Portsmouth, RI. Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 28, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
