Alice Lincourt

Newport, RI - Alice DePonte Lincourt, 89, of 138 Coggeshall Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 surrounded by her family.She was the beloved wife of William Raymond Lincourt for the past 65 years.Born in Somerset, MA on May 14, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marianna deMedeiros DePonte. Mrs. Lincourt was a graduate of Somerset High School and F.G. Allens Business School of Fall River, MA. She had held a clerical position at the former Naval Torpedo Station. She was a former volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program, a member of the Formal Catholic Information Center, a Past Officer of the Carey School PTA, an auxillary member of the Legion of Mary and the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Edward King Center. She was a communicant of St. Augustins Church and served on the Parish Council and Womens Guild. Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was taking care of her family.In addition to her husband, she was the beloved mother of Jane Marie Lincourt of Middletown, RI and Joyce Anne Sullivan and her husband John of Portsmouth, RI; beloved grandmother of Richard H. Fullerton II of Newport, RI, Jodi L. Fullerton of West Chazy, NY, Brooke A. Sullivan and John F. Sullivan III, both of Portsmouth, RI; a great-granddaughter, Delaney Cait Faucher of West Chazy, NY; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Frank DePonte, Jr., Mary Pontes and Marion Frado. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Augustins Church, corner of Harrison and Carroll Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, RI Chapter, One State Street, Suite 100, Providence, RI 02908 or to St. Augustins Church, 2 Eastnor Road, Newport, RI 02840.
