Alice Louise Freeman

Alice Louise Coggeshall (Allie Lou) Freeman, 85, of Newport died Friday, February 15, 2013 at home in Newport with family members by her side.Born February 22, 1927 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Carl and the late Alice (Coggeshall) Weiss. She was married to the late Frank R. (Chic) Freeman for almost thirty one years until his unexpected death in 1981. Allie Lou is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Windley of Newport, RI, Susan Cruz of Simi Valley, CA, and Linda Sami of West Warwick, RI, her son Robert Freeman of Murphy, NC, her two sisters, Celia Cook of Middletown, RI, and Anna Dewick of Tiverton, RI, nine grandchildren and one great grandson, four step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her brothers, the late John Weiss and the late Carl Weiss Jr.Alice worked for years as a cashier for Newberry's, Egan's Laundry and Dry Cleaners, and Plaza Cleaners until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, doing crossword puzzles and gardening. Allie Lou's greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Calling hours are omitted. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
