Alice M. Quinn

Newport, RI - Alice M. ?A.Q.? Quinn, 83, of 20 Pennacook St, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on July 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Alice Vaughn Quinn.A graduate of Rogers High School, class of 1942, she worked thirty-seven years in the Newport School Department, mostly as an elementary school secretary at Cranston-Calvert and Sheffield Schools. She retired in 1979. Miss Quinn was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She is survived by her brother Thomas S. Quinn, and his wife Margaret of Fairhaven, MA and their three daughters Karen, Pam and Margaret, her brother in-law Frederick A Sullivan of Newport, RI, with whom she lived, several nieces and nephews, Margaret Morgiewicz Gates, Daniel Kate Morgiewicz of Virginia, Joann Sullivan Ferris, Frederick ?Rick? Sullivan, Jr., of Portsmouth, RI, Lisa Sullivan-Grosskurth and Colleen Kenneth Collum of Newport, RI, and fifteen great nieces and nephews including, Robbie Kevin Ferris and Stephen Sullivan of Portsmouth, RI, Nicho Grosskurth, Tara, Rachel and Ryan Collum of Newport, RI, Brian Matulis of California and Greg Matulis of Connecticut. Miss Quinn was the sister of the late Margaret A. Morgiewicz and Mary E. ?Sis? Sullivan and the aunt of the late Mary Ann Morgiewicz Matulis and her nephew in-law Robert J. Ferris, Jr.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
