Ocala, FL - Allan Freeman Belden, 91of, Ocala, FL, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at home surrounded by his loved ones.He was the husband of Annunziata Tina DeVirgilio Belden.Born in Fall River, MA on October 1, 1920, he was the son of the late Raymond and Rhoda Sandford Belden.Mr. Belden was a graduate of SMTI and served in WWII after graduation. He was a combat wounded veteran serving with the 45th Infantry Division in both North Africa and the European theaters. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal after receiving wounds in Venafro, Italy where he met his wife Tina. Upon his retirement from kitchen cabinetry sales, they resided in Fall River, MA, Portsmouth, RI, Lake Wales, FL and most recently in Ocala, FL. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family members and was an avid Red Sox fan who attended their games up until a few years ago. Allan also served as a commander of the Portsmouth VFW and as a member of the Portsmouth Zoning Board.Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by Gene R. Belden of Ocala, FL, Joan Pierce and her husband Michael of Tenino, WA, Neal Belden and his wife Mary of Middletown, RI, Diane Belden-Rosenthal of New Bedford, MA, and Allan Belden and his wife Carrie of Holden, MA, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.His funeral will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 10:00am, in Connors Funeral Home, followed by a burial with military honors in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Donations in his memory may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 1320 SE 25th Loop, Suite 101, Ocala, FL 34471, or to National Parkinsons Foundation Gift Processing Center - PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
