Allan M. Heatherly, 55, of Power Street, Portsmouth, RI, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008.He was the beloved husband of Lydia L. Tidwell Heatherly.Born in Springfield, MO on November 25, 1952, he was the son of Shirley Allan Heatherly of Springfield, MO and the late Walter Heatherly.Allan, known as Lightening Al at WADK, worked as a commercial engineer at various radio stations throughout the state and volunteered as a broadcaster at many local high school sporting events. As a ham radio operator, he was associated with the Sakonnet 49s with the call sign KB1BMK. He was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran. He was a great lover of rock n roll music, was a Trekkie Star Trek fan, enjoyed gardening, and railroads.In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Marc Heatherly of Portsmouth, RI, Sarah Heatherly of Massachusetts, Robin Heatherly of Missouri, and; his siblings, Lorna Beard of Arkansas, Colin Heatherly of Nevada, Sheila Hanke of Texas, Kevin Heatherly of Missouri and Heather Ray of Missouri; and many nieces, nephews cousins, and many dear friends.
