Portsmouth, RI - Allen Larry L. Paul, 70, of 6 Third Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of Sandra M. Pomelek Paul. Born in Massena, NY, on November 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Al and Mary Gilbo Paul. Allen was a graduate of Johnson Wales University. He also served in the United States Navy from 1958-1963. After his time in the Navy, Allen worked at the Newport Naval Base for 30 years as a maintenance supervisor and trouble shooter. He loved life and was always on the go. He enjoyed flea markets and garage sales, always looking for new gadgets. He was also an avid card player, but most enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.Besides his wife, he is survived by his step-son, Chuck Holmes of CA, his step-daughter, Christine Miller of GA, his brother-in-law, Steve Pomelek and his wife Margie of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Timothy, Jeffrey and Daniel Miller, all of GA, and Jessica Holmes and her mother Tina Parre of Cumberland, RI, and two nieces, Denise Rochefort and Sherry Towey.His funeral will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009, at 11:00am, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
