Amelia Karlak

Middletown, RI - Amelia C. (Koss) Karlak, 94, of 600 Valley Road, Middletown, RI, died on Sunday, August 26 2012, at Village House Nursing Home.She was the wife of the late Peter S. Karlak. Born in Taunton, MA on September 16, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Koziol) Koss.Before marrying her husband, she did secretarial work. Mrs. Karlak worked as a teachers aide for 10 years in the Middletown School department. Millie was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Newport Senior Center (King House), the Oakland Seniors in Taunton, MA and the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was very proud and enjoyed her polish heritage Millie, Nana Nana-Nana will be leaving a void in her children', grandchildren, great grandchildren', nieces, nephews and friends life's. She is survived by her children, Peter S. Karlak, Jr. of Capetown, South Africa, Judith M. Travis and her husband Stephen P. Travis of Middletown, RI, Nancy Smart and her husband James Smart of Ellenton, FL, her grandchildren, Jonathan Travis, Lisa Travis, Sarah Travis, Rebecca Smart, and Adams Smart and his wife Alison her three great grandchildren, Matthew, Olivia and Elsie and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Stephen Koss, Walter Koss, Edward Koss, Felix Koss, Antonia Patenaude and Stella Maciejowski.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 9:30 - 11, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Her funeral will follow at 11, in the funeral home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the James L.
