Portsmouth, RI - Amy Margaret Ferris, 92, of 2856 East Main Road, Portsmouth, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital Fall River, MA. Born in Newport, RI on November 22, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia Medeiros Ferris.Miss Ferris worked as a seamstress at Lynn Sports Wear in Fall River, MA. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, an organsit for 11 years at Our Lady of Hope Monestary, St. Miguel Azores and a communicant of St. Anthonlys Church in Portsmouth. She is survived by her brother Joseph Ferris Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, three sisters Elvira Ferris of Portsmouth, RI, and Elizabeth Furtado and Laura Amaral both of East Providence, RI, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Ferris, Mary DaPonte, Julia Barbosa and Margaret Rego. Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI, 02871, or to the St. Anthony?s Capital Campaign Fund, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, 02871.
