Andrea Scott Trout, 85, of Portsmouth, RI, a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Rhode Island Hospital on July 1, 2024. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. Trout.
Born in Cambridge, NY she was the daughter of the late George and Carolyn (Gould) Andrew.
Andrea's life was a tapestry of artistry and achievement. From her intricate quilting and rug hooking masterpieces to her impeccable interior design and flourishing gardens, she painted the world with her unique touch. For many years Andrea worked in the state of Vermont as the Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, returning senior volunteers to their communities throughout Southern New England. Andrea had a special love for the elderly, and it was her joy to see them return to their communities during their retirement years using their gifts and abilities to bless others. She was a beacon of hard work, creativity, and grace in the lives of many.
A woman of unwavering faith, Andrea's love for the Lord Jesus Christ shone brightly. She enjoyed many years in her local church as she grew in her faith, thanking God for His love and mercy in saving her. Through the years her gifts and talents were used to support numerous ministries. She was particularly blessed as the Lord used her vision and encouragement to support the Aquidneck Island Christian Academy, as her prayer was to see God's grace work in the lives of young people. When she passed, Andrea was also a founding member of Grace Covenant Church in Portsmouth.
Andrea's greatest treasure and joy given to her by the Lord were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Susan (Stephen) Bailey of Portsmouth, Julie (James) Horvath-D'Amico of Arlington, MA, Andrew Scott of Portsmouth, Shaun (Debra) Scott of North Kingstown, Brian Scott of Colorado Springs, CO, her siblings: Howard Andrew of Eagle Bridge, NY, Mary (John) McMahon of Petersburg, NY, Carole (Randy) Batchelder of Greenwich, NY, Roxie Andrew of Watervliet, NY, her 12 grandchildren: Jared, Abigail, Christian, Sophia, Ethan, Jacob, Emily, Gabriel, Henry, August, Elijah, Charles, and her 2 great-grandchildren: Grayson, and Jesse.
Andrea's 'homecoming' will be celebrated by her family in a private burial service at the Portsmouth Friends Church.
Donations in her memory can be made to Samaritan's Purse of the Franklin Graham Ministries.
