Portsmouth, RI - Andrew Robert Murphy, Jr., 78, of 125 Quaker Hill Lane, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of 27 Cedar Pond Drive, Warwick, RI, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Vivian M. Fortin Murphy of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Providence, RI on January 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Andrew Robert Murphy, Sr. and Jane McHugh Murphy.Mr. Murphy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a pharmacist for 25 years, working for Brooks Pharmacy in Middletown and Westerly, RI, until his retirement in 2004. Mr. Murphy also owned and operated Colton Pharmacy in Providence, RI and the Lincoln Pharmacy in Quincy, MA. Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughters Laura M. Murphy of Newport, RI and Audrey A. Benson of Sandy, UT and his granddaughter Emily Benson. Funeral services and burial will be private.
