Angela Bishop

Middletown, RI - Angela Chagaris Bishop, 76, of 207 Rogers Lane, Middletown, RI, for the past 20+ years, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at the home of her son surrounded by her children.She was the wife of the late BMC Broaddus Bishop, US Navy, Ret. Born in Cambridge, MA, on March 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Sophia Tellegen Chagaris. Mrs. Bishop grew up in Cambridge, MA and worked in her fathers restaurant. She married and raised her family as a military wife living in many bases around the country. Angela loved nothing more then being with her family. She is survived by her children, Eugene Bishop of Portsmouth, RI, Lt. Col Paul Bishop, US Army and his wife Jacqueline of Vicenza, Italy, Steven Bishop and his wife Patricia of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Barbara Ray of Middletown, RI, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Stewart Bishop, Nicholas Bishop and Catherine Kennedy, and the mother-in-law of the late Jack Ray. Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 9:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a funeral service at 10:00AM in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2010, from 1-4 in the funeral home.
