Angela Gloria Souza

Angela Gloria (Providenti) Souza, 84, of Portsmouth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI, with her loving children by her side. She was the wife of the late Jesse Souza.Born on January 26, 1928 in Warren, RI, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Crestina (Gallucci) Providenti. Mrs. Souza worked at General Electric on Thames Street for several years before becoming the supervisor of housekeeping at Howard Johnsons for over 20 years. She was also a communicant of St. Barnabas Church.She is survived by her children, Sharon Botelho and her husband George of Newport, RI, Barbara and her late husband Michael Gonsalves, Diane Carlson and her husband James, Alan Souza and his wife Joanne, Pamela Kane and her husband Sean, and Christine Mercier and her husband Roger all of Portsmouth, Rl, her grandchildren, Michael Gonsalves, Ashley Smith, Michelle Souza, Jesse Bowman, Benjamin Bowman, Brian Souza and Brooke Kane and her great grandchildren, Jessica Gonsalves, Michael Gonsalves, and Zakari Bowman. She was the mother of late twins Kenneth and Stephen Souza and the sister of the late Michael Providenti and Concetta Ward. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 10:30am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Dpt. Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O.
