Angela N. Medeiros

Middletown, RI - Angela Nascimento Diogo Medeiros, 90, of Rosedale Terrace, Middletown, RI, formerly of 70 Gibbs Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Newport Hospital.She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Medeiros. Born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores on December 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Emilia Raposo Diogo. Mrs. Medeiros came to the United States from Sao Miguel, Azores in 1949. She was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and she was a former member of its Rosary Sodality. She is survived by her four loving daughters, Emily Silvia of Middletown, RI, Elsie Medeiros of Seekonk, MA, Anna Ventura of Middletown, RI , and Claudette Medeiros of Portsmouth, RI; her two sisters, Maria Jose Ventura of Middletown, RI and Orselina Furtado of Terrace, British Columbia; six grandchildren, Robert Pine, Michael Ventura, Jesse Silvia, Krystle Deasley, Angela Silvia DeFreitas and David Ventura, and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Jose, Tiogo, Pedro and Urania Diogo. Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
