Angelina C. Furtado

Portsmouth, RI - Angelina "Angie" C. (Mello) Furtado, 92, of Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully at her home on Friday, November 9, 2012. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. Furtado who passed away in 1982. Born in Portsmouth, RI on February 24, 1920 on the family farm, which is now part of the Melville Campgrounds, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Claudina Mello. Angie was the youngest of 12 siblings. She was the sister of Manuel, Frank, Jesse, John, Joseph, Mary Joan, Mary A., Alvera Scott, Josephine Medeiros, Georgianna Souza, and Adelma Alfonso. She was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and a charter member of St. Barnabas Church. She is survived by her son, Joseph M. Furtado of Providence, RI, her daughter Joan Middleton of Apex, NC, and two grandchildren, David James Middleton and Amy Elizabeth Middleton.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 13, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Columba's Cemetery in Middletown, RI.Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Hospital Children's Fund or a charity of your choice.
