Angelina Cotta

Portsmouth, - Angelina Cotta, 92, of 897 Middle Road Portsmouth, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at her home.. She was the wife of the late Tobias Cotta. Born in Middletown, RI on April 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Franciso and Maria Perreira Mendonca. Mrs. Cotta has lived on the same land on Middle Road in Portsmouth since her youth. She owned and operated Quonset View Farms with her husband and now it is run by her two sons William and David, over 20 years ago she began to develop the strawberry patches. She continued to work on the farm up until the day before she died. She also loved flowers. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church and a former member of the Womens Guild of St. Barnabas. She is survived by her two sons William and David Cotta both of Portsmouth, RI, and two brothers Antone Mendonca and George Mendonca both of Portsmouth, RI, two sisters Mary Elshant of Middletown, RI, and Virginia Mendonca of Portsmouth, RI, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Frank Mendonca, Joseph Mendonca, Sylvia Rogers, and Margaret Mendonca. Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 25, 2003, at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth followed with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
