Angelina E. Souto

Middletown, RI - Angelina Emilia Souto Soito, 90, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Antonio J. Souto.Born in Praia Do Norte, Faial, Azores, on Apr. 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Ana DeCastro Soito. She moved to Middletown RI with her family in 1959. She worked for many years at Swan Cleaners and then later retired in 1989 from Newport Hospital. With her strong religious faith, she was a dedicated parishioner at Jesus Saviour Church and a member of the Jesus Saviour Rosary Sadality. She was a loving and hard working woman and besides her gardening and her famous cooking nothing brought her more joy than her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Maria Pereira and her husband Antonio of Nokesville, VA, her son Antonio DoSouto Jr. and his wife Delfina of Bristol, her daughters Hilda Santo and her husband Frank, of Middletown, Helena Gaston and her husband Richard of Middletown, and Lydia Davis, of Middletown and her sons Mario Souto and his wife Sue of Middletown, and Roger Souto of Newport. She is also survived by 17 grand children and 17 great-grand children. She is preceded in death by her son Eduardo Souto and five brothers and five sisters. Calling hours will be held on Friday March 2, 2012 from 4-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport.Her funeral will be held on Saturday March 3, 2012, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Jesus Savior Church, 1 Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made in her name to Jesus Savior Church 1 Vernon Ave Newport, RI 02840.
