Angelina Pine

Newport, RI - Angelina Correia Pine, 91, of 8 Covell Street, Newport, RI, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Frank F. Pine. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on December 9, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Gertrude Branca Correia. Married November 4, 1935, Angelina and Frank had recently celebrated their 72 wedding anniversary. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Rosary and Altar Society, and the American Legion Post 18 Auxiliary, having served as chaplain. Mrs. Pine enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed cooking for the family, and crocheting items for all the children and her friends. Mrs. Pine liked traveling to visit family and friends, as well as attending reunions with her husband. Besides her husband, she is survived by her four sons: Francis Pine of Portsmouth, RI; Thomas Pine of Long Beach, CA; Robert Pine of Newport, RI; Michael Pine of Warwick, RI, and four daughters: Patricia Dennett of Middletown, RI; Gertrude Granger of Glasgow, KY; Veronica Perry of Newport, RI; and Catherine Batson of Wilmington, NC,. She also leaves a sister, Olive Silva of Bristol, RI; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grand children, and one great great grand child. She is predeceased by a brother Dennis Correia, a sister Mary White and a granddaughter, Diane Batson. Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January, 27, 2008, from 4 - 7 pm in the funeral home.
