Ann E. Santos

Newport, - Ann E Santos, 86, of Newport, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Village House Nursing Home Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on March 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Grant Turner and Rhoda L. (Turner) Riley. She and her late husband, Herman S. Santos, Sr., worked for Swan Cleaners pressing navy uniforms and shirts for many years. Ann retired as a civil service cook on the Newport Naval Base for twenty one years. She took great pleasure in fishing and shopping with her deceased sister, Artemus M. Perkins. She also enjoyed crocheting. She is survived by her sons, Richard Santos of Newport, Lamont Pat McGee of Middletown, and Herman S. Santos Jr. of Newport. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Herman Santos Jr., Richard Grant Santos Jr., Elizabeth Santos, Joseph H. Santos, and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, the late Richard G. Turner and Charles P. Turner. A graveside memorial service will be held at Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI on August 12th at 10:30 am. A repast will be held in the Park Holm Senior Center from 12:00 noon-2:30 pm.
