Ann Howe, 81, of Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Newport Hospital.Born in Marlborough, MA on September 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Alice (Benjamin) Howe.Mrs. Howe was a Budget Analyst for the Department of Defense for over 20 years before retiring. A resident of Portsmouth since 1959, Ann enjoyed ballroom dancing and cooking. She was a member of the Town Howlers and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Portsmouth. She is survived by her sons, Jay E. Furtado and his wife, Adelia Melo, of Bristol, RI, Jeffrey R. Furtado and his fianc, Holly Nicolau, of Portsmouth, RI, and Francis W. Furtado and his wife, Tracey, of Portsmouth, RI; and her sister, Betty Sobat of Florida.She was also the sister of the late Irving Howe, Jr. and Edward Howe.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10 am at St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
