Anna (DeComa) Fonti of Canonicus Avenue, Newport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.She was the wife of the late Albert Fonti, who passed away in 1997.Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Michelina (Marino) DeComa. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Teresa LaGreca and her brother Rocco DeComo.She leaves her nieces Michele Locurio, Marcia Pereira, and Katie Myette and her nephews John LaGreca, Peter DeComo, and Robert Sewall and their families including sister in law Donandrea DeComo and brother in law John LaGreca.Mrs. Fonti started her career in New York City as a secretary for an economics firm. She and her husband moved to Newport in the 1960s. She continued her secretarial work from home for many years for the same company.After retiring from the secretarial work, she started to take a serious interest in art. She was an accomplished watercolor artist and an active member of the Newport Art Association. She worked at the Newport Art Museum for many years until 2011. She also traveled extensively with her friends, including trips to Europe and Mexico.Calling hours will be held Friday morning, August 3, 2012 from 8:00 to 9:30 am.
