Anna M. Werhan

Portsmouth, RI - Anna M. Moitoza Werhan, 80, of 341 Union Street, Portsmouth, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Village House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newport, RI. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. and Rose Garcia Moitoza. Mrs. Werhan was a 1944 graduate of the Newport School of Nursing and earned her BS in Nusring from Rhode Island College in 1968. She worked for the Town of Portsmouth and the State Department of Health as a public health nurse. Mrs. Werhan was a golfer and a longtime member of the Green Valley Country Club and was a former member with the Portsmouth Multi-purpose Senior Center. She is survived by her brother Frank G. Moitoza of Orlando, FL two nieces Linda Moitoza of Middletown, RI, and Lynn Gurney of Portsmouth, RI her brother in law Manuel Leander of Middletown, RI, many great nieces and nephews, and four great great nephews.She was the sister of the late Evelyn Leander and Rose Jock. Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in her memory may be made to the Village House Nursing Home, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
