Middletown, RI - Anna V. DeSilvia, 94, of 1204 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at home surrounded by her family.She was the wife of the late Manuel DeSilvia. Born in Sachuest Neck, Middletown, RI on March 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Jessie V. and Mary Stark Mello.Mrs. DeSilvia grew up in the family farm in Middletown on Sachuset Point. Anna worked as a domestic housekeeper for several families including many years for the Rooney Family. She is survived by her sons Manuel J. DeSilvia and his wife Frances A. DeSilvia of Riverside, CA and Joseph R. DeSilvia and his late wife Mariella Mel DeSilvia of Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, Manuel J. DeSilvia, Jr. and his wife Jamie DeSilvia, Frederick J. And Gina DeSilvia of California, her great grandchildren, Micah, Tirzah and Leiv DeSilvia of California, her brother Tony Mello of Portsmouth, RI, her sisters Rose Gomes of Middletown, RI, Frances Pinheiro of Newport, RI and Franceline Veader of Rehoboth, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Lima, Philamena Fannie Escobar, Joseph V. DeMello Veira and Jesse Veira DeMello. Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009, at 8:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown., Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 2-4, in the funeral home.
