Annabelle Nelson Carter Middletown, RI - Annabelle Nelson Carter, 75, of 90 Rogers Lane, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Carl Carter. Born in McKeesport, PA, on Jan. 24, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Eugenia Houston Nelson.Mrs. Carter had worked as a housekeeper for the Inn Town Inn and the Treadway Inn for over 20 years, retiring in 1979. She had also attended the Community Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter Deborah Ann Carter of Newport, RI, a brother Robert Nelson of Columbia, SC, two nieces Maria Thurman of McKeesport, PA, and Lynn Smith of Ft. Washington, MD, and two nephews Robert Nelson Jr. of Downingtown, PA, and Kevin Nelson of Pittsburg, PA. She was also the mother of the late Carol Jean Carter, and the sister of the late Theodore Nelson, Beatrice Hairston, and Margaret Peggy Thurman.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours are omitted.
