- Anne Marie ?Annie? Reames Garland, 38, of 231 Maple Avenue Newport, formerly of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died Sunday, August 25, 2002 at home. She was the wife of Howard Eugene Garland. Born in Newport, RI on May 29, 1964, she was the cherished daughter of Arthur and June Love Rego of Portsmouth.Mrs. Garland attended Portsmouth Schools, Roger Williams College and she also attended classes at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She was a former Girl Scout. She loved music and especially art, and spent much of her time with her sketch books in front of her. She also had a great love of the water and in previous years, spent a lot of time in Narragansett Bay sailing with her husband on their sailboat. She had a great love of animals and besides her ?family? of two dogs and several cats, she was always making room for just one more. She was known to a lot of her friends as ?Ana? and was considered a beautiful and generous woman by them. She will be especially missed by her close friends Tricia Morris and Debbie Slattery and her adopted nieces and nephews. She was the granddaughter of the late Eugene and Georgina Love of Tiverton and the late Gordon and Mary Rego of Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 11:00 AM in Portsmouth Evangelical Friends Church, 11 Middle Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
