Anthony F. Lascaris, 91, passed away in Lancaster, PA, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Despina (Malis) Lascaris. Together they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.He was born in Boston, MA and raised in Newport, RI. He was a graduate of Rogers High School. Upon graduation from law school, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the U.S. Government. He served in the White House during the Kennedy Administration and then moved on to serve as the Attach for the Department of Homeland Security, formerly the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in Athens, Greece from 1997 until his retirement with 41 years of Government Service.He was honored for his invaluable contribution since retiring, in furthering the excellent relations between the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service Office in Athens and other U.S. Government Law Enforcement Agencies with their Greek counterparts. This would not have been possible if during his tenure as head of the INS Office in Athens, with regional responsibility covering 16 other countries.He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Despina, sisters Esther Viveiros of Newport, RI, Bessie Hampilos of Lancaster, PA, niece Renee Gammache of Lancaster, PA, nephews Dr. Speros G. Hampilos of Clearwater, FL and Frank Hampilos of Lancaster, PA.He is also survived by a stepdaughter Tasia Stoupakis, wife of George Stoupakis of Miami, FL and granddaughter Marella Nardotti, wife of Chris Nardotti of Vienna, VA and grandson Leon Stoupakis of Miami, FL and five great grandchildren.Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. His funeral will be held Friday, November 6 at 10:00AM in St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport, RI.
