Anthony Joseph Integlia , 86, beloved husband of Mojca Sonja (Sencar) Integlia for 57 years and father of Dr. Mark John Integlia, Sonja Marie (Integlia) Boyland,, and the late Vincent Anthony W. Integlia, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, in Tucson, AZ after a very long struggle with heart and kidney disease. He was born in Newport, Rhode Island on November 4, 1928 to Vincent Anthony Integlia and Adeline (Viti-Conte) Integlia, long time Newport residents. At a very young age he began to enjoy and love the game of baseball. His nickname was Ace when he began at the age of 8 years old on the Yankees team. He played on the First Dairy Lounge team thereafter. One could always find him playing at Cardines Field, alongside his father and two uncles, William J. Integlia and Dr. Peter P. Integlia of Newport.Upon graduation from Rogers High School, he entered Georgetown University and later transferred to Seton Hall University, from where he majored in Chemistry, Biology and Physiology in 1951. On September 15, 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army. He later shipped out for the Far East Command on February 18, 1953. Upon arrival in Japan, he was assigned to the 24th Medical Battalion, 24th Infantry Division as a Medic, whose duty was to remove and transport the wounded from the front lines. Upon receiving the rank of a Private, he was then ordered to begin his work and sent to Korea.Upon signing of the Truce, he left Korea with an advance party to take over the 45th Parallels position at the front. After completing this duty, he was then honorably discharged on September 3, 1954, given the rank of Sergeant, and returned home. He then decided to go abroad for a while to study. While returning home again, he met his future wife, in his own words "the love of his life", Mojca, on the ocean liner, "Saturnia". Their long distance courtship began and it became a true romance. After having taught his fellow soldiers while in the Army, he went on to pursue a career in education. He completed his training at Boston University in 1957 receiving a Masters of Education Degree. He began his teaching career in Middletown, Rhode Island in 1956 at the Gaudet Middle School and later continued at Middletown High School. He and his wife were kept busy by taking care of his elderly parents, his aunt and uncle. He was also a strong, loving advocate for his son Vinny.
