Anthony L. "Tony" Mcfarland

Anthony L. "Tony" McFarland, 86, of Newport died Friday, October 30, 2015 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Filomena (DeMatteo) McFarland.Born in Russell Spring, KY, he was the son of the late Chesley and Sylvia (Gosser) McFarland. Tony was extremely dedicated to his family and was an amazing cook who also loved gardening. He was honorably discharged after serving in the Army during the Korean War and went on to work for 25 years for the U.S. Postal Service and received numerous outstanding service awards.Tony is survived by his three sons: Michael A. McFarland and his wife Debbie of Portsmouth, Peter L. McFarland of Bristol, and Timothy S. McFarland of Middletown. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Ann McFarland of Dartmouth, MA as well as three grandchildren Jennifer McFarland; Erin McFarland, Ryan McFarland and two great grandchildren Brody McFarland and Riley McFarland. He leaves his long-time companion Mary King of Middletown.Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 12:00 - 1:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00PM in the funeral home.
