Antoinette Smith

Newport, RI - Antoinette Ferreira Smith, 94, of 416 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at home.She was the wife of the late William H. Smith. Born in Fall River, MA on November 24, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Rego Ferreira. Mrs. Smith worked for 20 years at Egans Laundry in Newport on Mill Street. She was a communicant of St. Josephs Church and an active member of the Middletown Senior Center. Mrs. Smith loved to travel including going on cruises, vacationing in Florida, going to the beach and spending time in the sun. She also loved reading, crafts and painting. Antoinette loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children, William H. Smith of Port Richey, FL, Barbara Chavous of Newport, RI and Joan Pfund of Sellersburg, IN, her sisters, Rosemarie Harris of Sellersburg, IN and Ann Bananto of Guerney, IL, sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late James E. Smith and the sister of the late Manuel Dago Ferreira, John Ferreira, William Ferreira, Richard Ferreira , Olive Heidler and Theresa Ford. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 5-7 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10 am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
