Middletown, RI - Antone Moniz, Jr., 93, of Middletown, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.He was the husband of the late Florence (Dopart) Moniz.Born on April 8, 1919 in Middletown, RI he was the son of the late Antone Moniz Sr. and Mary (King) Moniz.Mr. Moniz served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for the former J. T.'s Lumber for 25 years and then for Raytheon for 15 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Moniz was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church.He is survived by his children, Rodney V. Moniz of Tiverton, RI, Antone "Sonny" Moniz of Middletown, RI and Catherine M. Moore of Middletown, RI, his brother George Moniz of Manchester, MA, three grandchildren, one great granddaughter and one great grandson.Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013, from 4:00-7:00PM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 11:00am, in the Memorial Funeral Home.Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown, RI.Donations in his memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
