Antone Soares Portsmouth, RI - Antone Soares, 85, of 469 Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at home in Portsmouth after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Lorraine Morrisette Soares. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on September 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Jose and Justina Rego Soares.Mr. Soares was a WWII US Army Veteran. Mr. Soares had worked for 10 years at JT O?Connell in Middletown. He then went on to work as a carpenter for Pearson Yachts in Portsmouth, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Throughout his life he was also a self employed farmer, growing vegetables supplying our local markets. He is survived by his wife Lorraine Soares of Portsmouth, RI, a brother Joseph Soares of Attleboro, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Soares, Manuel Soares, and his sisters Helen Silvia, Clara Gomes, Adeline Faria, and Mary Soares.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at 9:00a.m. from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. in the Connors Funeral Home.
